Description

This class is three sessions.  August  8,  August 15, and September 19.

Dawn will lead you on an exciting adventure of 'Shifting Perspectives'

Dawn's processes is based on the book by Lorraine Torrence (no longer published, but you may find it as a used book).  While it is a different process, the book is a good resource.

What you will learn:

  1. To create your own pattern. But don't fear!  No drawing ability required.  It only requires straight lines.

In the First Class you explore drawing ideas and requirements.  Then you start doodling.

        2. Determine if your created pattern needs to be divided to create the block and what are your fabric requirements.

In the Second Class the block is refined, the piecing order is determined and the fabric requirements needed to make the blocks.

        3.  Using your sewn blocks, you learn how to trim them for the "Shift"

In the Third class you arrive with your sewn blocks, untrimmed and the foundation paper still on the back.  This class is all about trimming.  You will trim your blocks after learning  What and How to trim the blocks.  Discussion on assembly of the quilt top and border creation is during this class.  Guess what, most of what you trim is used for the border so there is very little waste!

Skill level: intermediate paper-piecing.

There is a refresher paper-piecing class scheduled on August 15 for those who feel they need it.

Class Fee paid for start of 1st session.
